Basic Obedience In Oswego
Weekly in-home lessons teaching core commands — sit, down, heel, and place — in addition to addressing nuisance behaviors such as jumping, chewing, nipping, and barking.
Basic obedience lays the foundation for building relationships with our dogs. If your dog will only sit or lie down when you have a treat in your hand or you repeat yourself multiple times, that is a good indication that there are gaps not only in the relationship, but also the dog’s understanding of what’s being asked.
Obedience is not about making your dog a robot or keeping them under orders so they never have the option to make mistakes — it’s about shining the light on how your dog feels about working in collaboration with you and then building up their enthusiasm to work with you.
Over the course of five sessions, we will work in your home, replacing old cycles and habits with new ones to ensure long lasting change and better relationships for the entire household.
About the Program
Proper sit — held until released, at the door or before crossing the street on walk
Proper down — a reliable down-stay to utilize around guests, service workers, and deliveries
Proper heel — no more of your dog pulling or you choking up on the leash in fear that they won’t listen. Walks are to be enjoyed together
Place command — sending your dog to place is one of the most valuable things you can teach for daily life. Do so with confidence!
Polite greetings — four feet on the floor when you come home and have visitors over
Owner coaching — throughout each lesson, you will take the leash and learn to train and communicate with your dog, solidifying a positive and engaging relationship
